The International Conference on Frontiers of Polymers and Advanced Materials is a multidisciplinary international forum on materials science and applications. Inaugurated first in India in 1991, this meeting is a sequel of preceding, very successful series of international meetings organized in different locations around the world. Over the years, the ICFPAM conference series has facilitated the collaboration of scientists, engineers, and industrial leaders and encouraged discussions on multidisciplinary aspects of macromolecular and materials science, leading to the exchange of scientific knowledge and the establishment of new collaborations.
To highlight advances and new findings in polymers and advanced materials worldwide and their impact on new technologies
To facilitate technology transfer and new business opportunities by bringing together global representatives from academia, research centers, industries, and business
To foster international collaborations and joint ventures
To facilitate the growth of private sector business
To promote the growth of scientific and technical infrastructure in the field of polymers and advanced materials technologies
The 1st ICFPAM was held in New Delhi, India, January 20-25, 1991.
The 2nd Edition, held in Jakarta, Indonesia, January 10-15, 1993, was inaugurated by President Soeharto in the Presidential Palace and had 244 participants from 24 countries.
The 3rd Edition was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, January 16-20, 1995.
The 4th Edition was held in Cairo, Egypt, January 4-9, 1997 with the Minister of Scientific Research of the Government of Egypt as the Honorary Chair. It was attended by 350 participants from 30 countries.
The 5th Edition was held in Poznan, Poland, June 21-25, 1999, with the Minister-Chairman of State Committee for Scientific Research, the Minister of Education, and the Minister of Economy as Honorary Chairpersons.
The 6th Edition was held in Recife (Pernambuco, Brazil), May 4-9, 2001 with the Minister of Science and Technology of Brazil and Rector of the Federal University of Pernambuco as Honorary Chairpersons. The conference had an attendance of about 250 participants from 25 countries.
The 7th edition was held in Bucharest, Romania, June 10 – 15, 2003. The President of Romania, the Minister of Education and Research, and the Minister of Industry and Resources were Honorary Chairpersons. The conference had an attendance of about 300 participants from more than 30 countries.
The 8th edition was organized by the University of Mexico in Cancun (Mexico, Quintana Roo).
The 9th conference was organized by the University of Technology, Krakow, jointly with the Institute of Natural Fibers, Poznan, from July 8 to 12, 2007.
The 10th ICFPAM was held in Santiago (Chile) and was organized by the University of Chile. It benefited from the participation of scientists from America, particularly Argentina, Brazil, and Chile.
The 11th ICFPAM conference edition, was held in Pretoria, South Africa, was organized by the University of Pretoria. The South African research minister was present at the opening ceremony. The conference attracted the participation of researchers not only from the host country but also from other African countries.
The 12th ICFPAM was organized by the University of Auckland, in Auckland and attracted record-high participation of more than 500 scientists, coming from 40 countries around the world.
For the 13th ICFPAM, the conference was back in Africa. It was held in Marrakesh, Morocco, and was organized by the Moroccan Society of Advanced Materials Physics and their Applications.
The 14th ICFPAM was held in Daejeon, South Korea, from October 31-November 4, 2016. This edition of ICFPAM was hosted by Hannam University, celebrating 60 years of its founding. The organizer was Prof. Kwang-Sup Lee at Hannam University, and the attendance was more than 400 scientists from 32 countries around the world.
The 15th International Conference on Frontiers of Polymers and Advanced Materials (15th ICFPAM) was held in Rainbow Paradise Resort Hotel, Georgetown, Penang, Malaysia, June 17 – 21, 2019. It was organized by Malaya University, Kuala Lumpur.
The 16th ICFPAM was held in Berhampur , a rural area at the bay of Bengal in the state of Odisha , India, November 9-13 ,2024 . It was organized by the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research ( IISER ) at Berhampur . IISERs are premier scientific research institutes . It included plenary and keynote talks, tutorials, invited lectures, contributed talks, and poster presentations . The special features of this conference were online lectures by Nobel laureates Louis Brus and W.E. Moerner. More than 400 participants from 15 counties participated in this conference.
